JSC “Almazy Anabara”, a subsidiary of AK ALROSA, which mines diamonds from placer deposits in the Yakut Arctic, found a 100.53-carat diamond of a pronounced light yellow color. A large gemstone measuring 27. 15×28. 81×29. 56 mm has the shape of a flattened octahedron.
The placer deposits of the Leno-Anabar diamond-bearing subprovince in the north-west of Yakutia, which include the ALMAR deposits, traditionally provide most of the production of colored diamonds, including extremely rare shades. Over the past few years, Russia’s largest stones of fancy colors have been found here, including the rare rose diamond called “Spirit of Rose”, which, after being cut at the ALROSA Diamonds enterprise, was sold at Sotheby’s for $ 26.6 million.
