MINERAL RESOURCES

The mineral resource base of the Arctic mining company as of 2021 consists of two deposits: Beenchimee and Khatystakh, located in the North-West of Yakutia in the Anabar-Olenek diamond subprovince in the territory of Olenek and Bulun uluses (districts). The areas are located in the immediate vicinity of the Lena river (Khatystakh section) and on the winter road to the Anabar river (Beenchimee deposit).

The Khatystakh licence area has sustained high or hurricane diamond-bearing sands. The forecast potential of the placer deposit for open-pit mining is estimated at 7.5 million carats, with average diamond content 4.91 ct / c.m. Forecast potential for underground mining to a depth of 10-200 m is about 30 million carats.

The Beenchimee licence area has lower sand productivity, which is offset by larger diamond sizes and a higher average accounting value. The forecast resources of the placer are estimated at 1.7 million carats.

In 2019 the independent international geological agency SRK Exploration Services Limited UK confirmed the industrial significance of the mineral resources of AMC deposits.

Summary of the report

The company plans to develop the mineral resource base mainly through the development of new small and medium placer deposits located in the Lena-Anabar diamondiferous subprovince.

There were opened a number of diamond deposits such as Ebelyakh, Morgogor, Molodo, Talakhtakh, Hara-Mas, Motorchuna, Daldyn, Tiglikit, Haara-Mas and Big Kuonamka at the Lena-Anabar subprovince. During development of the deposits were produced tens of millions carats of rough diamonds of jewelry quality, including large and super-large diamonds and diamonds of rare fancy colors of high purity. Among which the diamond “Creator” weighing 298.48 carats – the third largest diamond mined in Russia, a fancy bright pink diamond 27.85 carats recognized as the most expensive diamond in Russia, a diamond of a rare deep greenish-yellow hue weighing 28.59 carats, found in 2018 and many others. Every year, the deposits of the region produce dozens of rare diamonds of large size over 10.8 carats and super-large size over 50 carats.

The development of large deposits in the region has been conducted for more than 20 years by the subsidiary of ALROSA – Almazy Anabara JCS (Diamonds of Anabar), which is the largest diamond mining enterprise in the world, leading production at placer deposits, with a production volume of about 5 million carats per year, which holds 13% of production of ALROSA.
